The VW ID.4 is the second electric car of the world-famous German Volkswagen brand. The novelty is a crossover and has a corresponding appearance. And its characteristics seem impressive not only for electric cars, but for modern cars in general. The car has average dimensions, typical of many current class representatives. The first thing that immediately catches the eye when looking at the novelty is the absence of the typical radiator grille. Instead of it, it has only a thin chrome decorative strip, which connects the narrow LED headlights. Rear lights of the car are designed in the same style as in ID.3 model. The car has a rather volumetric body structure. A relief it gives the original design of the front bumper. At the bottom of the body it will get a black plastic dodger, typical of the majority of today’s crossovers. The car is planned to be equipped with stylish alloy wheels R19 with the original design. The novelty will be offered to customers with six different body paint options. It promises to be bright and spectacular.

But also original ways of coloring with contrasting black or panoramic roof and silver rails will be available. In some configurations, the car will get R20 rims. Inside the crossover is very spacious. The interior is distinguished by a futuristic and bold design. There are practically no buttons. They were replaced by touch screens. The instrument panel is completely virtual. Car will get an advanced multimedia with excellent sound and a whole set of functions, controlling of which will be possible thanks to a huge touch screen display. The car will be equipped with a whole set of modern comfort and safety options. Among them – six airbags, cruise control, lane-keeping system, the option of traffic sign detection, electrified seats with multiple adjustments of position, interior and dashboard illumination with the choice of color, electric luggage compartment door, keyless access, dual-zone climate control and much more. In case of triggering of any systems, the car will inform the driver about this with a special light bar under the windshield. Dimensions
The new electric Volkswagen will get typical dimensions of a middle-sized city crossover. Its length will be 4584 mm, width – 1852 mm, height – 1612 mm. Wheelbase of the auto – 2766 mm. The car should get a serious off-road clearance, equal to 210 mm. It indicates an excellent cross-country ability of the novelty, especially in a complete set with a four-wheel drive. In such version on off-road it is capable to show results which even some real modern off-roaders can not boast of. But, certainly, electric car with bright appearance is not created for this purpose at all.The electric crossover will get rather capacious trunk with volume of 543 liters. It is enough even for transportation of large things and subjects. And if you fold the rear seat, the space in the luggage compartment should still increase noticeably.
Engines and transmission
The ID.4 will be equipped with electric motors of various capacities. No more power units are planned for this car. The first motor will have a capacity of 148 horsepower. Its charge should be enough for 360 kilometers. With the second power unit the car will be able to produce 175 horsepower. Without recharging it will be possible to drive 360 kilometers. With the most powerful propulsion system it will have 204 “horsepower”. Up to 100 km/h the car with this engine will accelerate in 8.5 seconds. And its charge is enough to drive 520 km without recharging. Also in the near future should appear the most powerful version of the crossover. Its power with two power plants can reach 306 “horses”. With the first three electric motors the car will receive only rear drive, and with two motors – full drive.

Now “Volkswagen” actively develops the market for electric cars. Now in its lineup appeared a fully electric crossover VW ID.4. The car can safely claim the title of one of the most anticipated and brightest novelties 2020-2021. Moreover, its appearance in showrooms in many countries of the world is not far off. And applications for cars in Germany and some other countries are already actively accepted. The car design novelty turned out to be not only environmentally friendly and corresponding to current global trends of care about the environment, but also technically perfect.
